Jimena was born in Mexico City in 1999. She had a fairly normal life with her ups and downs. She started ballet classes at age 4 and continued dancing until she was 15 years old. When she was 5 her parents got divorced. Since then, and by being an only child, Jimena learned to be alone for long periods of time, she enjoyed imagining fantastic realities where she was an independent, intelligent and confident woman. Everything was fine, until puberty arrived and all of her reality transformed, she began to be self-conscious of her body image and her role in society, that's when she started dieting, overeating, vomiting and over exercising. Seven years later, Jimena keeps working on having a balanced life, a healthy relationship with food, overcoming her anxiety and loving herself with her imperfections. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
