Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday! Looking through the pages of my sketchbooks, I can easily identify the busy periods in my life. How? There are lots of drawings of my feet! During times with tons of work to do, it may not be that easy to think of something I want to draw. If I want to draw, especially when I’m busy, I need to make it as easy as possible. So, when I finally have a moment to myself, I grab my sketchbook and a pen and put my feet up. And I draw what I see in front of me. My inner critic will of course ask" "Couldn’t you come up with something more exciting?” Yes, I’m sure I could in a less-busy time, but not right now. I’m just happy to be drawing, and my toes are extremely important and interesting subjects for a portrait. Remember: It’s not about what you’re drawing, it’s about the act of drawing. Whenever I look back at my sketchbooks and see drawings of my feet, I know I must have been very busy with work – and I’m always glad to see that I made time for myself to draw.
