Draw Tip Tuesdays - How To Find Challenges As An Artist

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday! This month, I’m all about finding challenges for our sketchbooks—because let’s be honest, in February we can all use a bit of shaking things up! Today, I’m tackling something I always think I’m bad at: drawing cars! And to make it even more interesting, I’m using a Pilot Parallel Pen with a big, broad nib—perfect for unpredictable, wonky lines. If there’s something you avoid drawing because it feels too hard, , all the more reason to just go for it. If you don't practice, it'll always stay a sketchbook frustration. Buildings, people, perspective—whatever your challenge is, just draw it. Mistakes will happen (they always do), but that’s where the fun and the learning are. You'll see me moving through the drawing process, drawing lines and shapes, questioning my choices, and then—thanks to pushing past initial disappointment—bringing it all together by one key element: drop shadows. Pick a subject that you think you can't draw, and draw it anyway. Remember: it's just shapes!
