Draw Tip Tuesdays - One Size Does Not Fit All

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday! In today's sketchbook tour, I am talking about how you can sometimes fall out of love with a sketchbook, before you've finished it. It's OK. If it doesn't bring you joy anymore, it's a good reason to move on and start fresh. However, do not give up on a sketchbook just because you feel like you 'messed it up' by making a bad drawing. A tiny sketchbook like the one I am showing you today, can help you to let go of thinking about the result that much. It's small and safe, and accessible. You'll discover fun ways to capture people or places . You can make quick little studies and sketches of the things around you. The sketchbook will be your best compagnon if you need to kill some time when waiting or traveling. Take out your sketchbook instead of your mobile phone. Feed yourself with creativity for a moment. While leafing through the pages, I am getting ideas from drawings that I partly even forgot about. Going through older work will have that effect. As we are at the beginning of a new year, it might be good, to take a moment to look where you came from, and where you are now, as an artist. You'll see how you've developed your skills, choice of subjects, storytelling and perhaps creative courage too. Choosing the format of your sketchbook is up to you. Don't choose a sketchbook because other artists use it, but find what fits YOU best. It may be a tiny sketchbook, or a larger one - and there is so much to be found in between. Make sure that the sketchbook isn't too expensive because than the pages may feel too precious, which makes it less accessible to just play and have fun. I found a bunch of them in a shop in Amsterdam, and after that the vendor didn't have any more. I have seen some really cute mini sketchbooks offered on Etsy.com.
