Draw Tip Tuesdays - How I Choose My Palette

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday! I get asked all the time what exact colors I use in my watercolor palette and in my colored pencils. So in this Draw Tip Tuesday video I show you my colors and explain why I do not recommend buying the exact same ones. I started out with a simple set of twelve basic colors. Over time I slowly upgraded, color by color, and learned what worked for me. It took years to land on the palette I use now. I love that consistency because I know how these colors mix, and I know their limits. My crayons and colored pencils fill the gaps and add brighter color when I want that. The thing is, someone else’s palette is not automatically the right palette for you. You will discover what works over time. Less choice often makes you more creative. So instead of collecting more and more new supplies, start with less, and get to know what you have. If you go out sketching, keep your kit light and realistic. The drawing is the goal. Not using every tool you own. Your color choices will grow and change as you grow and change. Keep exploring, keep trying things out, and keep showing up in your sketchbook. Thank you for watching.
