In this new era of autonomy, remote work is up and running. Believe it or not, there still is company small and large that are still hung up on this command and control approach when it comes to leadership and overall running a business. We have to get Andrew. Chain of Command and these organizations where managers gave orders and enforced inflexibility policies and procedures and didn't welcome input from employees.

This type of style came from the 50s, 60s when men came back from World War II and stepped into the business world and brought that mentality with them. This relic style of leadership is so long gone that they don't even use it in the military anymore. To be honest, yes, some companies made millions and billions of dollars through this style of leadership but between the pandemic and the generation Z, the command and control approach is so long and here's why. The command and control approach was widely used in companies where employees were expected to spend their entire careers there and get a pension.

Before the World War II web, the Internet people didn't have many options to say, F all false, I quit and go to the next job that is out there. So employees values stability and dealt with the command and control approach. Since that is not true anymore, hence the great resignation that took place in plain to see that workers are more comfortable exiting their job to seek greater pressure. Workers wanted to be hired to do their job task without the command and control and the micro-managing that comes along with it.

I will leave a thumbnail at the end of my other tutorial, managers hiring people to manage, which is a high-opener for management. Along with the work-life balance, workers want the autonomy, the sense of purpose, ownership and respect when working for a company. Workers want to say in the process to give input not to be ridiculed for saying something that is not right about the procedure. You have to understand that the workers are the ones that are doing the task at hand, so when management make the task the most complicated thing in the world to do in which they do actually.

It should be the work to say a lot of this should be eliminated from the process as a waste. Your workers shouldn't be reprimanded for it. Along with making workers unhappy and creating a little morale amongst the workplace, it can also hurt your team's decision-making. Leaders who are suppressed dissenting voices often keep value by ideas from the surface.

Management and leaders need to understand that it's okay to have a thoughtful disagreement to find out what's true or not. Leaders who insist their team follow their decisions without questions are shutting off constructive feedback that could help reshape an idea or a poor decision that can benefit the entire company.
