This is a channel you can learn new skills at a brush up on an old one. Continuous education and improvement show the priority of you want to stay current and you feel the work and plus get paid your worth. So let's get started. Businesses, companies small and large really need to adjust their thought process when it comes to leading a team, directing a team, the entire structure of being productive at work.
Does management really want their employees to have free range to flourish and eventually promote it throughout the company or to be on a leash under a watchful eye of management dictating their every move? The antiquated ways of senior management are still hooked on the command and control tactics currently in 2025. Yes, I've said it, micro-managing and still live in kicking at many businesses. What they don't realize management is shaping and molding work to rule employees.
Working to rule is a form of industrial action where employees adhere strictly to the terms of the contract and job description, refusing to perform any work beyond the minimum requirements. This can involve adhering to strict breaks, refusing over time or meticulously following every procedure even if it slows down operations. Many companies will actually hire older experienced workers due to the mindset of being micromanaged. Time and money that is being wasted due to management constantly overseeing every step of the task.
Here's a more detailed look at how micromanagement impacts productivity. Reduce employees' autonomy initiative. Micromanagers often resist delegating work, preferring to maintain tight control over every task. Employees may also become hesitant to solve problems on their own, waiting for instructions from the above rather than taking initiative.
It also hinders learning and development. When employees are constantly guided by hand and told what to do, they're missing out on opportunities to develop their skills and take on more responsibilities. All of this can lead to workforce that is solely dependent on their managers for guidance, hindering their ability to work independently and contribute effectively. Now some managers will be cool with all this due to the lack of their skill set of managing your department efficiently.
Also not to be too harsh on them is the lack of upskilling and rescaling a managerial position at the workplace. When a remote lifestyle came into effect a few years ago, management didn't know how to conduct a sales while productivity did skyrocketed at some companies others were damaged due to the dependency of management holding their hand along the way. One more point that I will move on as a manager if you have to micromanage a team on a daily basis you have hired the wrong people. Gen Z came into the workforce with values such as community, a global mindset, authenticity over polish.
Gen Z learned new technologies quickly and draw a massive amount of data and information in a way that was inconceivable to prior generations. Gen Z is the most interested in careers in business, healthcare and tech. They also might be gearing towards on the job goals. Whether user or not sit in front of a computer, that means information needs to come directly to them wherever they are via mobile device, laptop and the last thing they want is management standing in a way of productivity.
The benefits of creating an autonomous workforce, this improved productivity and creativity, feeling valued and trusted, increased job satisfaction and motivation, higher levels of engagement and ownership. The first step in creating an autonomous workforce will be finding balance such as clear communication, setting boundaries, trust and empowerment. Managers who trust their employees' ability empower them to make decisions of more likely to see positive outcomes. While autonomy is important, set up clear boundaries and expectations can help ensure that work is completed effectively and efficiently.
Management all in all you don't have other tasks at hand that need to be done, such as meetings, follow ups, planning your week. Many managers think they were hired only to manage their department employees, which is further from the truth. The way we work addressically change and footer better in a start for management to take heed to the change as well. Many thanks for taking some time to check my tutorial out.
