There are some faster ways to destroy a successful company than to make a good employee quick.
Someone may say, wait a minute, a good employee at a successful company. So many will ask themselves, why are they quitting? Well here goes six good reasons why good employees are throwing the towel. Let's get this one out of the way and it's actually number one over pay rate and some polls.
Unfortunately having a horrible manager can ruin a job when an employee, in fact many employees quit because of their manager and not because of their job is self. Whether it's from the manager lack of training, is overwhelmed themselves or simply a lot of times had different personalities that clashes with the employees. The fact is a manager can often make it a breaking employees experience with the company. A good company can get bad reviews due to horrible management.
To prevent this issue, manager training is essential. You want to make sure that your managers, supervisors have the tools they need to work and support their employees. Additionally you want to make sure that when you hire a manager that person is actually suitable for the managing and working with people. Although a senior employee with years of experience might seem like the right person to move into a manager role, not all people will be good managers and some may not even want to manage.
To keep your good employees from leaving your business, therefore you want to make sure that they're setting up for success with a competent and experienced manager. Companies may think that an employee salary is fair. You have to consider how it compares to the industries that stand in. A lot of people will stay due to the convenience that a location will really enjoy doing the work.
The flip side to that is they can enjoy anything elsewhere but with a better pay. Employees may think they save their money by low borrowing their employees but keep in mind a high turnover rate cost out of a dollar due to onboarding, picking up where their last person left off and getting them up to speed. Also thinking how productive and unhappy workers are going to be at your company. Also remember to get what you're pay for.
So play fair to your employees and pay them their worth. Some may think company culture is just another business buzzword but in fact it's a large factor to consider to how employees feel about their job overall. Employees are more likely to stay at the job and produce the best work when an employee feels connected to your business and engage with the whole of the operations. So poor company culture is another reason why good employees quit from unclear company values to lack of transparency or simply not providing the tool they need to do their job.
So it's important to have a clear mission along with a long term plans. Create a positive company culture that affects the way an employee learns, performs and interacts with others. I have made a tutorial regarding this hard press issue and it's still funny that a lot of businesses still don't know or care about this phrase. It simply means the employer respect the fact that the employees have lives outside of work and many places won't accept that and this is another reason why good employees quit their jobs.
Since the start of the remote work lifestyle the demand for better work like balance started to come up in interviews towards a hiring manager and HR. So now in turn they had to create a culture that embraced the work like balance. Companies have to understand the fact that things happening people lives and giving your employees the support and freedom to deal with them can make a huge impact. Even when it comes to small business employees need the opportunity to grow.
To be fair some people enjoy doing the same thing day in and day out for five, ten plus years but to the ones that need to be challenged at some point and want to seek growth within the company may get it elsewhere. Organizations can contribute to this growth by offering fringe benefits such as education stipends, upskilling and rescilling employees that are looking for growth. You can also hold seminars or at review time ask them what are their goals in the next five years. What would you like to learn to help you do a better job?
Organizations need to be either work with these types of employees when it comes to their career progression. It's not only important for your employees to have the right manager but also have good leadership across the company. When employees notice an ineffective living leadership but nothing makes sense this can greatly impact their willingness to remain at the job. After all hard work transparency along the company value starts at the top.
Employees want to have the faith in their leaders that they are working hard to grow the company in fostering a positive work environment. Many thanks for taking some time to check my tutorial out.
