So let's get started. When you hire people you consider smarter than you, you are most likely to listen to their thoughts and ideas. And this can be the best way to expand your own capabilities and build the strength of your company or the business you work for. But keep in mind this can be difficult for many entrepreneurs who are proud of their companies they have built all along and on their own.
Through all of the mine years working at this one particular company, certain departments make sure they weren't no more higher than them on the totem pole when it comes to smarts. The thought process might have been hiring for competency as sign of incompetence. Let's face it some managers are simply intimidated by the prospect of a staffer in some way with more knowledgeable or capable than them. They perceive their talented candidates as a threat to management or supervisor and this type of thing can be a detrimental impact on a business when your main goal is hiring talented people for the company or business so it can thrive.
Management need us are hiring people to tell you what to do. As Steve Jobs mentioned and I quote, it doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do. Management need to understand how easier this will make their department their company run.
When you have someone already on board fluent experience well enough for the position that need to be filled there will be less micromanaging and room for error. And way less time when it comes to the breaking end period you know showing them the ropes and if you have a good onboarding process this is the ultimate win. Who can you go to to get advice take that right decision for the growth of your business or department. Who can assist you to answer tough challenges.
Even geniuses ask questions and who are they asking? You guessed it someone smarter than them. Sooner or later you may run out of angles if you're the only one making these decisions for the business or department you would need someone that is on the same page as you but may say see things differently that may be an eye opener for you. You need smarter and talented people for your well functioning team.
You need one or more smart people to take your work in the future. So you can shift your focus to something else too. Some companies won't even let you advance or move up the ladder unless you have a candidate that can fully take your place. Why would you want a department or a team of 10 to 15 people that solely count on you for everything?
Yes it feels good to be needed but it is mentally and physically draining when it comes to that when you have a life to handle you know the family aspect that may be depending on you for guidance as well. Smarter people know how to get things done simply. They grasp and learn easily and quickly with their abilities to manage things on their own. There will be surprises in you by sharing their innovative ideas and solutions to hard-hitting problems that you believe were not possible.
Smarter people listen more. Most of their digesting information into the way of understanding it and the only way you are going to get a question out of them is if they are stumped on that information and need some more clarity or direction. If you ever get a chance for interviewing a person who is well capable and competent in managing many things at one go, it will more likely work in beyond their formal job description than consider yourself lucky. The quickest way to answer this is if upper management sees a team you have created, you, an amount of productivity that comes out of that team, it will be foolish to worry about your position in that company.
I worked for a company that had an outstanding manager, created a well-deaked team and was let go and upper management were trying to win over the workers in that department. To take his place they all said the same thing. We can't create what he has created here. We can't deploy the proper team to sites like he did.
Upper management said but why not? They said because we are not management, we are the team. And also keep in mind you should always hire someone smarter than you and learn from them. Anything to take some time to check my tutorial out, all the links will be down in the description below.
