Short lecture on magnetic shielding in NMR. The magnetic field experienced by nuclei can be altered by local electron density, which acts in a way to counteract the magnetic field. This alters the frequency of magnetic resonance depending on the local chemical environment, generating a spectrum of unique resonances for a given sample.
