Welcome to Week 9 Tutorial 3 of the course "Mathematics for Data Science I" by Profs. Neelesh Upadhye, Madhavan Mukund. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/ds/course_pages/BSMA1001.html Video Overview In this tutorial, we explore how to determine the most likely activation energy (Ea) for an isomerization reaction using the Sum of Squared Errors (SSE) method. Starting from the Arrhenius equation, we linearize it into the form y = mx + c, calculate the required values of x_ and y_, and test different slope values (m_, m_, m_, m_). By computing the SSE for each case, we identify which slope minimizes the error and hence corresponds to the correct activation energy. This step-by-step approach combines chemical kinetics with mathematical reasoning.
