Welcome to Week 4 Tutorial 8 of the course "Mathematics for Data Science I" by Profs. Neelesh Upadhye, Madhavan Mukund. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/ds/course_pages/BSMA1001.html Video Overview In this lecture, we work through a word problem involving the growth of likes on a YouTube advertisement. The rate of increase in likes per second is proportional to the average time within that second, which leads to a quadratic function modeling the total number of likes. Using this relationship, we determine the quadratic expression, calculate the total likes at the end of sixty seconds, and establish the correct domain of the function. This session demonstrates how quadratic functions can be applied to real-world growth and rate-of-change problems. About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels.
