Welcome to Week 6 Tutorial 6 of the course "Mathematics for Data Science I" by Profs. Neelesh Upadhye, Madhavan Mukund. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/ds/course_pages/BSMA1001.html Video Overview In this tutorial, we calculate profit using polynomial functions. The total revenue of a product is modeled as a polynomial, while costs such as purchase, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses are represented by separate polynomials. By subtracting the cost polynomials from the revenue polynomial, we derive a simplified profit polynomial. The final expression shows profit (in lakhs) as a function of the number of years since 2000, demonstrating how algebraic methods can be applied to real-world business math. About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels.
