Welcome to Week 5 Tutorial 7 of the course "Mathematics for Data Science I" by Profs. Neelesh Upadhye, Madhavan Mukund. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/ds/course_pages/BSMA1001.html Video Overview In this lecture, we solve a geometry problem involving two quadratic curves, C1 and C2, along with a line l that passes through their intersection points. The task is to determine the reflected curves, C1_ and C2_, obtained by reflecting C1 and C2 across the line l. We begin by finding the equation of the line through the intersection points of the parabolas, which turns out to be y=0. Using this result, we then reflect the curves across the x-axis to obtain C1_ and C2_. This tutorial demonstrates how intersections, symmetry, and reflections work together in solving transformation problems with quadratic functions.
