Welcome to Week 6 Lecture 4 of the course "Mathematics for Data Science I" by Profs. Neelesh Upadhye, Madhavan Mukund. We revisit the inverse relationship between logarithmic and exponential functions, review conditions for logarithms, and identify key points on their graphs. The main focus is introducing and proving the fundamental laws of logarithms: product rule, quotient rule, reciprocal rule, and power rule. These rules, essential to the invention of logarithms, simplify complex calculations and form a cornerstone of algebraic problem-solving. Practical examples are worked out to illustrate their use.
