This screen casts summarizes our discussion in class about ideal solubility from Chapter 11: Ideal Solution. We look at a predicted cooling crystallization curve for the system of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and water, and also a mixture of ethanol and water. While we make a number of simplifying assumptions in our derivation, the resulting model is able to capture the essential physics of the problem.
