The 5 phases of Tuckman's team development process consist of forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. Everyone tends to take on a certain member role when working in teams. These can be divided into 3 main categories including: action-oriented behaviors, people-oriented behaviors, and thought-oriented behaviors. This was based on research by Belbin and can be valuable when putting together and working within an effective team. The 9 team member roles are: Shaper: Drive and motivation Implementer: Well organized, reliable, efficient Completer Finisher: Polishes and perfects Resource Investigator: Resourceful, outgoing Teamworker: Helps the team to gel Co-ordinator: Clarifies goals and delegates Plant: Creative and free thinking Monitor Evaluator: Strategic; looks at the big picture Specialist: In-depth knowledge about an area HROB152 Ch 8 Part 2
