Decision making involves selecting a course of action among several alternatives.
Programmed decisions are those where there are habits, rules, or policies in place to help you make the decision; non-programmed decisions are decisions made when there isn’t a rule or policy to dictate what action should be taken.
Upper-level managers tend to make strategic decisions, while middle managers tend to make tactical decisions. Finally, supervisors or “leads” tend to make operational decisions.
