Chad provides a thorough lesson on Time Dilation and Length Contraction, two major points of the Special Theory of Relativity. For observers that are moving very fast (close to the speed of light) time slows down and lengths (or distances) contract in the direction of motion. Chad derives the time dilation formula, including the derivation of the Lorentz factor, and uses that to also derive the length contraction formula. Great emphasis is placed on how 'proper' time and 'proper' length or distance are defined and specifically from which observer's perspective. Several time dilation and length contraction problems are then solved using these formulas. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 01:06 Time Dilation Formula Derivation and Lorentz Factor Derivation 16:54 Time Dilation and Length Contraction Problems Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-youtube #generalphysics #physicstutorial
