Chad provides a lesson on Heat and Calorimetry. The lesson begins with some vocabulary with Chad explaining the definitions of heat, conduction, convection, and radiation. He then provides the definition of specific heat and introduces the associated equation used to calculate the heat associated with temperature changes for a substance , q=mcdT. He then works out of couple of q=mcdT calculations that demonstrate the inverse relationship between specific heat and temperature change. Chad then introduces the latent heat of fusion and the latent heat of vaporization showing their relevance if a substance is undergoing a phase change and how they can be used to calculate the heat absorbed or released by a substance. He then presents the heating curve for water and shows how to calculate the heat associated with the temperature change of a substance if it also involves a phase change. He then concludes the lesson with a heat calculation involves a hot piece of metal placed in cold water. He shows that the sum of the heats between the two is zero and uses it as the basis for determining the temperature of the mixture when thermal equilibrium is reached. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:54 Heat, Conduction, Convection, and Radiation 03:33 Specific Heat and Calorimetry (q=mcΔT) 07:39 q=mcΔT Heat Calculations 09:27 Latent Heat of Fusion and Latent Heat of Vaporization 13:05 Heating Curve 15:27 Heat Calculations Involving Phase Changes 21:34 Heat Calculations Involving Multiple Objects Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-youtube #generalphysics #physicstutorial
