Full Transcript

Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on RL circuits which have both a resistor and an inductor. While the resistor resists the flow of current in the circuit, the inductor resists the change in the flow of current in the circuit. As a result, the current in the circuit as calculated using Ohm's Law is not achieved instantaneously in an RL circuit, but requires some time. The formula for this time dependence of the current, including the time constant in an RL circuit is presented and explained. An inductor stores potential energy in the form of a magnetic field, and the greater the current passing through an inductor, the greater the magnetic field, and the greater the potential energy. The formula for the potential energy stored in an inductor is presented and explained. The lesson is concluded with the solution of several RL Circuits practice problems. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:49 Introduction to RL Circuits 02:14 Current in an RL Circuit 05:25 Potential Energy of an Inductor 06:30 RL Circuits Practice Problems Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-youtube #generalphysics #physicstutorial
