Chad provides a lesson on Density and Pressure in a new chapter on Fluids and Solids. He first provides the definition and formula for density as well the SI units for density. He then reveals that the density of water is 1000kg/m^3, provides the specific gravity definition and formula, and shows how to calculate specific gravity. Next, Chad provides the definition of pressure, how it is equal to force per unit area (P=F/A). He then solves a simple example of the pressure under one wearing snow shoes, explaining the advantage of wearing snow shoes from this perspective. He then explains the nature of fluid pressure (including air pressure) and provides the formulas for gauge pressure (aka hydrostatic pressure) and absolute pressure, also explaining the difference between gauge pressure and absolute pressure. He then solves for both the gauge pressure and absolute pressure at a certain depth in a freshwater lake. Next, Chad shows the construction of a classical mercury manometer and a mercury barometer and explains how they are used to measure pressure. Finally, Chad covers Pascal's Principle which states that the pressure in an enclosed fluid is everywhere the same and how this is the basis for how the hydraulic jack works. He concludes the lesson by solving a physics hydraulic jack problem. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:50 Density Definition and Formula 07:12 Specific Gravity 09:29 Pressure Definition and Formula (P=F/A) 12:53 Gauge Pressure and Absolute Pressure 23:02 Manometer and Barometer 30:09 Pascal's Principle and the Hydraulic Jack Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-youtube #generalphysics #physicstutorial
