Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on Resistors beginning with showing how to calculate the equivalent resistance for resistors in series and parallel. For resistors in series, the equivalent resistance is simply the sum of the resistances of the individual resistors, and Chad derives why that is so. For resistors in parallel, the equivalent resistance is calculated by adding the resistances of the individual resistors as reciprocals, and Chad derives why that is so. In addition to calculating the equivalent resistance, it is shown how to calculate the potential drop across and current through a resistor as well as the power dissipated by a resistor. Chad then demonstrates how to calculate the equivalent resistance for a circuit having many resistors. He shows how the circuit diagram can be simplified in steps until a single equivalent resistance is determined. He then shows how to find the potential drop across and current through any resistor in the circuit as well as the power dissipated by the resistor. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:51 Resistors in Series and Parallel 08:01 Calculating Equivalent Resistance for Resistors in Series and Parallel 19:43 Circuits with many Resistors Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-youtube #generalphysics #physicstutorial
