English Language Teaching Methodology: This session is part of the American English Live! teacher professional development series. For more resources to teach and learn English, visit http://americanenglish.state.gov This webinar will briefly define what a task is and why tasks matter for language teachers and learners. The session will present six facilitators of task engagement that teachers can consider when developing language tasks; these facilitators are: authenticity, interest, social interaction, challenge and skills balance, autonomy and structure balance, and feedback. Finally, we will discuss a variety of ways that technology use can be integrated into tasks to support the facilitators of learner engagement.
