English as a Foreign Language classes often rely on textbook language in teaching speaking, which might limit students’ scope and leave aside essential communicative strategies. This webinar, therefore, will focus on the use of real-world, authentic communication strategies in the Target Language (TL) in teaching speaking. The emphasis is on the use of various Discourse Strategies (DSs) that help establish a language-rich environment and facilitate the authentic use of the TL in the EFL classroom. Participants will be introduced to various strategies of effectively incorporating authentic TL in their lessons: in classroom routines and practice as well as assessments of speaking gains.
