Presenter: Kristen Cardona Classroom routines, relationship building, and differentiating instruction, are prerequisites for a successful active learning classroom where students work collaboratively to explore and experience the target language. Active learning environments that are rich in communication require firm classroom routines, clear behavioral expectations, and scaffolded language. As educators embrace communicative active learning methodologies, so must our students learn how to behave differently in this new classroom setting. This webinar addresses the importance of creating an academically, socially, and emotionally safe space where students can take learning risks. This session will share examples and guidelines for how to develop classroom routines that create structure; how to group students for learning success; common causes of behavior/academic problems; and how to modify instructional activities to make them accessible to more learners. Participants will gain a variety of strategies to implement immediately in their classrooms.
