This session will share a dynamic way to get students out of their seats—in both virtual and face-to-face settings—as they collaborate and communicate with classmates during a reading race that involves a variety of texts. Participants will learn how this exciting activity supports students in developing two essential reading macroskills, skimming and scanning. The presenters will share step-by-step tips for conducting the activity, demonstrate how several language skills are incorporated, and explore adaptation ideas for various contexts, ages, and levels.
