「Learn Japanese」 Pre-ます-Form VERB 続ける as “continue to do VERB” The verb 続ける can be used in conjunction with another VERB in its Pre-ます-Form to form a compound verb that means to “continue VERBING.” Example(s): 彼は運動し続けてちゃんと強くなった。 Kare wa undou shi tsuzukete chanto tsuyoku natta. (He continued to exercise and got strong.) 彼らがジョージワシントンをいじめ続けたから彼は学校に来ない。 Karera wa George Washington o ijime tsuzuketa kara kare wa gakkou ni konai. (George Washington won’t come to school anymore because they kept bullying him.) 他の皆が忙しくなったから彼だけは野球の練習に行き続けた。 Hoka no minna ga isogashiku natta kara kare dake wa yakyuu no renshuu ni ikitsuzuketa.
