「Learn Japanese」 (CLAUSEこと/NOUN)に気がつく as “to realize ____” This grammar expression is used with a noun or complete clause to mean “notice NOUN” or “realize that CLAUSE.” When used with a clause, the word こと is placed after the clause to mean “that.” Example(s): エッセイを校正してたくさんの間違いに気がつきました。 Essay o kousei shite takusan no machigai ni ki ga tsukimashita. (I proofread the essay and noticed a lot of mistakes.) 学校に着いてから家に宿題を忘れてしまったことに気がつきました。 Gakkou ni tsuite kara uchi ni shukudai o wasurete shimatta koto ni ki ga tsukimashita. (Right after I arrived on campus, I realized that I had forgotten my homework at home.) 公園で私のそばにいる犬に気がついた。 Kouen de watashi no soba ni iru inu ni ki ga tsuita.
