「Learn Japanese」 Causative Form The Causative Form construction is mainly used to express that the subject of the sentence makes another entity perform a certain action. However, it is also used to convey that the subject of the sentence lets or allows another entity perform a certain action. The Causative Form construction can be used with both transitive and intransitive verbs. When used with transitive verbs, the entity made or allowed to perform the action by the subject is marked with the particle に. When used with intransitive verbs, the entity made or allowed to perform the action by the subject is marked with the particle を. Example(s): あ、彼は彼女を泣かせてしまった。 A, kare wa kanojo o nakasete shimatta. (Woop, he went and made his girlfriend cry.) プールの近くに遊ばせないでください。 Pool no chikaku ni asobasenaide kudasai. (Please don’t let them play near the pool.) あの先生は一人一人の学生にスピーチを発表させる。 Ano sensei wa hitori hitori no gakusei ni speech o happyou saseru. (That teacher makes each student present a speech.) 昨日、両親は私に車を洗わせた。 Kinou, ryoushin wa watashi ni kuruma o awaseta.
