The lecture defines what makes events independent and explains how the probability of one event does not influence the probability of another. We also learn how to calculate the probability of intersections and unions of independent events using clear step by step reasoning. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate how these concepts are applied in practice, helping to strengthen the understanding of independence in probability theory.
