Welcome to Week 6 Tutorial 2 of the course "Statistics for Data Science - I" by Prof. Andrew Thangaraj. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/ds/course_pages/BSMA1002.html Video Overview In this tutorial, we solve a quality control problem involving defective nuts and bolts. A Quality Engineer draws a sample of 10 pairs from a batch of 200, which includes 8 defective pairs. The task is to find the probability of exactly 3 defective pairs in the sample. Using combinatorics and the concept of the hypergeometric distribution, we calculate the probability step by step:(8C3_192C7)divide by 200C10 This tutorial clearly explains each stage of the calculation, showing how sampling without replacement applies to real-world quality engineering and statistical analysis. About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
