In fact the sooner a parent starts using the techniques taught in these videos, the sooner they will see a positive impact with their children's behavior. Arguing only benefits the child in that they are able to distract, stall or persuade the parent from taking the appropriate action. Most teens do not argue to get information or to understand their parents point of view. Usually the agenda is only try to persuade the parent into a different direction. To test this theory, the next time a teen asks "WHY?". A parent may say that they would be happy to share all the reasons why, as long as the teen agrees to accept the reasons and not discuss them any further. Very few teens will agree or follow through on this agreement. Again, arguing may benefit the teen but has very little if any benefit to the parent. Arguing in veritably leads to greater conflict and frustration.
