This is the 1st of 4 sample clips from the 1st video in the series titles "How to Motivate Your Teen. This clip talks about how to motivate teenagers. When teens are properly motivated they want to succeed at school, they want to succeed at home, they want to contribute to their home and environment, they want to have good relationships with their parents, they want to get along with their siblings and others. When a teen is not properly motivated they are often almost impossible to get along with, they resist any accountability or responsibility, they are defiant to parent, and they do not care about others. They just want to be allowed to do their own thing. Most teens, event he most defiant don't lack the ability to obey parents or follow house rules, they just aren't motivated to do so. So, if your teen is not being responsive to you or your house rules and standards, even worse, your teen outright ignores, defies or walks on you, it is probably time to make massive changes to motivate them. If you teen is generally responsive it is still good to understanding the keys to establishing and maintaining motivation. The best key to motivating your teen is a solid and productive relationship with them, however, if your relationship is not where you would like it to be you may need to create some leverage until your relationship can get there. http://Parenttools.org is part of a non-profit organization that help parents learn effective parenting skills.
