Full Transcript

http://Parenttools.org has created a series of 6 videos designed to help frustrated parents with difficult teens. The information in the videos is applicable not only for parents dealing with difficult teens, but is an excellent resource for parents of children of all ages. In fact the sooner a parent starts using the techniques taught in these videos, the sooner they will see a positive impact with their children's behavior. This is the 4th of 4 sample clips from the 6th video in the series titled "Using Effective Consequences". Large consequences, these are usually a form of being grounded where the teen is not allowed to leave the home of have friends over until they complete a time frame or a special criteria, like a work project, certain number of work hours, a certain number of study hours. Often having an assignment such as having work hours or study hours is much better and more productive for the teen than just putting in time. Also, it reinforces that the more effort on the part of the teen to make ammends results in the sooner they finish their grounding, which is again a positive thing. Note, some grounding may allow the teen still go to school, participate in athletics or maintain a job, but some groundings may require curtailing any or all of these items due to the seriousness of the situation or emphasis the parent wants to establish. http://Parenttools.org is part of a non-profit organization that help parents learn how to be better parents.
