Stay tuned to the end for a chance to win a prize! For today's 4MFS, we're using practical lighting to make a high-concept visual effect. With surprisingly simple tools, we're able to craft a convincing and visually dynamic scene. The story is about a drifter, resting in a rural diner when suddenly, a meteor comes crashing into the earth. DP/host Kevin Reyes utilizes a unique location and thoughtful lighting to create a stylistic scene. Using a makeshift jib, the G&E team was able to recreate the light that a meteor would emit while crashing to earth. Afterward, they utilized lighting panels to create a realistic fire effect to fully sell the impact. Watch the full video to see everything you need to know about creating a realistic visual effect practically with lighting. Want more free lighting and cinematography tutorials?
