Electron Affinity and Electronegativity Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on the trends in Electron Affinity and Electronegativity. The lesson begins with the technical definition of Electron Affinity as well as its general trend which gets more negative (increases) from left to right across the periodic table. Notable exceptions to the general trend that students are usually responsible for knowing are then covered and explained. Successive electron affinities are then covered with a discussion of why electron affinities beyond the first tend to be endothermic. The lesson is concluded with a discussion on the definition of electronegativity and a description of its periodic trend. I've embedded this playlist as a course on my website with all the lessons organized by chapter in a collapsible menu and much of the content from the study guide included on the page.
