Bond Enthalpy Chad provides a lesson on how to use Bond Enthalpy to calculate ΔH for a reaction. Having already learned Hess's Law and using Enthalpies of Formation to Calculate ΔH, a third method for calculating a good approximate value for ΔH is presented here. It is contrasted specifically with using Enthalpy of Formation which involves taking the sum of the Products minus Reactants as with Bond Enthalpyy we take the sum of the Reactants minus Products. Trends in Bond Enthalpy involving multiple bonds, size, and electronegativity are presented as well as two example calculations of ΔH from Bond Enthalpy. I've embedded this playlist as a course on my website with all the lessons organized by chapter in a collapsible menu and much of the content from the study guide included on the page.
