Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) ECG EKG strip heart rhythm interpretation for nurses, nursing students, Next Generation NCLEX, and ACLS review. 🫀Nurse Sarah's ECG Study Notes: https://nursesarah.com/ Learn the causes, what this can look like on the ECG, and the nursing interventions for PEA. Quiz: https://www.registerednursern.com/pulseless-electrical-activity-pea-ecg-ekg-quiz/ Notes: https://www.registerednursern.com/pulseless-electrical-activity-pea-rhythm-ecg/ Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) occurs when the patient has no pulse, yet there is electrical activity taking place on the ECG. In this situation, the rhythm can have the appearance of organization. PEA may or may not have a P wave and QRS complex, and it could even resemble normal sinus rhythm, sinus tachycardia, or sinus bradycardia. However, when you examine the patient, they will have no pulse, will not be breathing, and will be unresponsive. Many things can cause pulseless electrical activity (PEA), including electrolyte imbalance, hypovolemia, thrombosis, hypoxia, trauma, and cardiac disease. Treatment involves activating the emergency response system, starting CPR, checking the rhythm per ACLS recommendation, and more.
