ABG interpretation: The ROME method explained and made simple. Learn how to solve arterial blood gas problems (ABG problems) using the ROME method! 📚Nurse Sarah's ABG Study Notes: https://nursesarah.com/ ABG Quiz: https://www.registerednursern.com/abg-arterial-blood-gas-practice-quizzes-with-tic-tac-toe-method/ ROME stands for Respiratory Opposite, Metabolic Equal. When using the ROME method to solve ABG problems, we'll be analyzing the values of PaCO2, blood pH, and bicarbonate (HC03-). We will then determine whether each value is high, low, or normal. If the value is is increased beyond its normal range, we put an up arrow. If it is decreased, we put a down arrow. We then determine if respiratory is opposite from the blood pH, or if the metabolic system is the same as the pH. NOTE: if you don't like the ROME method, you can also use the Tic-Tac-Toe method to solve ABG problems.
