This heart rhythm is similar to atrial fibrillation, but there are some key differences. See atrial fibrillation video: https://youtu.be/69-GmO4GmEY One of the key characteristics of atrial flutter is that it lacks P waves on the ECG, and instead, has flutter waves, which gives it a saw-tooth appearance. The atrial rate will typically be around 300 bpm, and it is regular in its presentation. Atrial flutter causes include heart problems, particularly when the tricuspid or mitral valve are affected. Heart surgery, an overactive thyroid, or heart attack is also a cause of atrial flutter. Atrial flutter can be treated with various medications, synchronized cardioversion, and even ablation.
