By engaging with all the videos within this series, you will effectively complete a full undergraduate course in astronomy, equipping yourself with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the night sky with confidence, learning all the basics and many advanced topics! • Solar Eclipse Definition: A solar eclipse occurs when the moon covers the sun, with variations including partial and total eclipses. • Eclipse Seasonality: Eclipses don’t happen every month due to the 5.2-degree tilt of the moon’s orbit, leading to specific eclipse seasons. • Total Solar Eclipse Conditions: Total solar eclipses require a direct alignment of the sun, moon, and Earth. • Eclipse Occurrence: Total solar eclipses occur when the moon’s orbit aligns with the Earth’s orbit around the sun, causing the moon’s shadow to fall on the Earth. • Line of Nodes: The line of nodes is the intersection of the Earth’s orbital plane and the Moon’s orbital plane.
