By Richard McMunn of: https://passmyinterview.com/top-30-interview-questions-answers/ #jobinterviewtips #interviewskills #interviewpreparation MORE INTERVIEW VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE: Mock interview questions and answers: https://youtu.be/KCm6JVtoRdo Overcoming interview nerves: https://youtu.be/7_aAicmPB3A JOB INTERVIEW TIP #1 – DRESS TO IMPRESS! 00:51 • First impressions are crucial. • If you dress smart, it shows you care. • If you dress smart, it shows you have standards. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #2 – RESEARCH THE COMPANY. 01:31 • What do they do? • What products and services do they offer? • What do the positive reviews say about their company online? • What does their ABOUT US page say on their website? • What are their latest news stories? (Visit their social media pages.) JOB INTERVIEW TIP #3 – ARRIVE ON TIME! 02:28 • I would arrive at the interview venue 20 minutes before the start time. • Think about your journey to the interview venue the night before. • If you turn up just on time, or slightly late, it doesn’t give a good impression. • When you get to the interview venue, be nice to the receptionist. • Sit down and read your resume or the job description. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #4 – HAVE AN ANSWER PREPARED TO THE “TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF” INTERVIEW QUESTION 03:22 • Use the format SEAT to structure your answer. (Skills, Experience/Qualifications, Achievements, Type of person you are.) JOB INTERVIEW TIP #5 – GIVE EVIDENCE OF YOUR KEY SKILLS AND QUALITIES! 05:39 • Before you attend your interview read the job description! • What skills and qualities are required to carry out the job? • Have examples (evidence) of where you have previously successfully completed tasks that are a match for the job description. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #6 – HAVE AT LEAST ONE SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENT TO TALK ABOUT DURING THE INTERVIEW! 06:17 If you can prove to the interviewer that you are a high achiever, you are more likely to get hired. Examples of significant achievements include: • Working on challenging projects that helped your employer increase sales. • Winning an important contract for your employer. • Covering other people’s work because they were off sick or on annual leave. • Responding to challenges within an organization. • Inventing something or coming up with an idea to save the company money. • Carrying out charity work. • Completing a challenging sporting event. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #7 – THINK ABOUT YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES! 07:20 Good strengths to give in a job interview include: - Being able to manage a large workload; - Having the technical skills or qualifications needed to do the job; - Being a self-starter who needs little supervision; - Being commercially aware; - Being adaptable to change; - Taking responsibility for your own professional development. Good weaknesses to give in a job interview include: - Finding it hard to say no to people. - Not being confident when talking to large groups of people. - Finding it hard to let go of projects. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #8 – USE THE STAR TECHNIQUE WHEN ANSWERING BEHAVIOURAL INTERVIEW QUESTIONS! 08:48 Behavioural interview questions include: Q. Tell me about a time when you worked as part of a team. Q. Tell me about a time when you worked under pressure. Q. Describe a situation where you experience conflict with a co-worker. SITUATION – Briefly outline the situation you were in. TASK – Explain what task needed to be completed. ACTION – Tell the interviewer in detail the action you took. RESULT – Finish off your answer with the results of your actions. JOB INTERVIEW TIP #9 – LEARN HOW TO MANAGE INTERVIEW NERVES! 10:08 Understandably, people get nervous prior to their job interview. The nerves get so bad they hinder a person’s ability to perform to a good standard, and they end up not getting hired. Watch this video to find out how to overcome interview nerves! https://youtu.be/7_aAicmPB3A JOB INTERVIEW TIP #10 – HAVE 3 SMART QUESTIONS READY TO ASK AT THE END OF THE INTERVIEW 10:48 Do not ask questions about pay, how much time off you will get or whether you will have the chance to get promoted soon after starting. Instead, ask these: Q. What are the challenges facing the company right now and how could I help you to overcome them? Q. What training would I undergo if I am successful in the role? Q. What would you need me to focus on in the role within the first 30 days of starting?
