Let’s give these variations a try: 1.   You can tell the one who wrote the cross that he can talk during the game. This way he can manipulate the guesser. The one who wrote the cross can for example manipulate the guesser by immediately saying where the one with the cross is. This way he can confuse the guesser. He could be lying. Another possibility is that he is telling the truth but wants the guesser to think he is lying. 2.   You can also tell the guesser he can talk during the game. Tell him to elaborate on his choice of why he thinks a paper does or doesn’t have the cross on it. For example, he can say the following: “You were purposely tensed when I pointed at this particular paper. I think you did this because you wanted to manipulate me into thinking that’s the one with the cross. That’s why I think it’s a bluff.
