Full Transcript

Chad provides a summary of the synthesis and reactions of esters. This includes synthesis of acid bromides from carboxylic acids with PBr3 and the synthesis of acid chlorides from carboxylic acids with SOCl2. The reactions include several nucleophilic acyl substitution reactions including the conversion to acid anhydrides, esters, carboxylic acids, carboxylates, and amides. Also covered is the reaction with Grignard reagents, Gilman reagents, and reduction with LiAlH4 and DIBAH.
