Summary

Full Transcript

This part of lecture presents the working of shunt DC generators and the process of voltage build up in these generators is explained. There may be three possible reasons when voltage build up fails in shunt DC generators, these are, (i) no residual flux (ii) direction of flux due to field current is opposite to the residual flux and (iii) field resistance is higher than the critical value. These problems and possible solutions are discussed in this lecture.
