Now, musty friends, this is the second part of the video on endocrine system. So do watch the first part where we have covered the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland and the thyroid glands. In this second part of the video, we will discuss about glands such as the adrenal pancreas, ovaries and testis and how yoga therapy can help to regulate these glands properly by means of asanas and pranayam. So now, let us focus on the adrenal glands.

Our adrenal glands sit on top of each kidney. The two adrenal glands are divided into two main parts. One part produces hormones that do many jobs. For example, they control the mixture of salt and water in the body.

The other part makes hormone that raise blood pressure and heart rate when the body is under stress. The adrenals are located at the level of the 12th thoracic vertebrae directly above the kidneys. Adrenal in Latin means near the kidneys. The function of the adrenal glands is to supply hormones responsible for regulating energy, stress, blood sugar, body fluid balance and blood pressure.

The two primary hormones are cortisol, also known as the stress hormone and adrenaline. The energy hormones also use for the flight or a flight response. The interior adrenal gland is the adrenal cortex and produces corticosteroid, that is also known as cortisol, catcholo mines that is known as epinephrine and adrogens that is also known as sex hormones. They are directly and indirectly responsible for balancing salt and water in the body.

Metabolism, immunity, sexual development and our stress response. The exterior adrenal gland is the adrenal medulla and it produces adrenaline and non-adrenaline and other hormones utilized in our fight or flight response. The adrenal medulla receives information directly from the sympathetic nervous system in the thoracic spine area between T5 and T12. Now, when the adrenal glands are overstimulated, such as during high stress or sickness, stored energy is used to maintain normal body functions.

After long periods of physical and emotional stress, the adrenal function is depressed and can impair the immune system causing hypogysemia and low blood pressure. Yoga for the adrenal glands. Yoga can be helpful in balancing and restoring function to the adrenal glands, caused by both under stimulation and over stimulation. Following a sat week diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can help restore depleted nutrients needed by the body.

It is also important to remove stimulants such as caffeine and processed sugar from the diet, since they are specially draining to unbalanced adrenals. If the problem is under active adrenal glands, stimulating yoga asanas and Kapalabhati can be helpful. In fact, Kapalabhati is a breathing exercise performed while contracting the abdominal muscles which cleanses and stimulates the respiratory system. This stomach, the liver and the pancreas.

Asanas influencing the sympathetic nervous system and T5 to 12 of the thoracic spine, such as back bends and twists are stimulating. Examples of these are Naukarsan, Chakrasan, Seythu Bandhasan, that is known as your bridge pose, Merchiasan C and D and Pervitha, that is Parivritha, Janu Sri Shasana. Now, over stimulation of the adrenal glands requires using pranayam and more gentle versions of back bends and twisting asanas. A pranayam helpful in balancing is Nadi Shodhana, full alternate nostril breathing.

It is important to use restorative versions of twisting and back bending poses, Bhujangasana, that is Akobra, Urdhamukeshwana asana and Ardha Chakrasana can be gently performed. Supported Seythu Bandh using a block is another back bend, Vakrasana and Ardhamasendra asana gentler twisting poses. Poses that stretch the upper shoulders help to release tension from the area just above the adrenal glands. Supported shoulder and chest opening poses are calming as well.

Some forward bends useful in opening the thoracic area are Pashimutana and Janu Sri Shasana inverted balancing and restorative poses such as Halasan, Matsyasana and Sarvangasana help to balance the body in addition to allowing the blood to flow to the area around the adrenal glands. Supported Shavasana and Vipri the Karani are also restorative for the glands. Finally, Yoganidra and meditation focusing on the adrenal glands and de-stressing the entire system. Now let us talk about the pancreas.

The pancreas is located just behind the stomach. This gland produces two important hormones called insulin and glucigen. They work to keep the right amount of sugar in the blood. Your pancreas is your largest endocrine gland and it is found in your belly.

The pancreas make several hormones including insulin which helps glucose. The sugar that is in your blood enters the cells of your body. Your cells need to be fueled with glucose to function like a car's engine needs a gas and we all know what happens when you run out of fuel. Regularly practicing yoga in addition to eating healthy and other healthy lifestyle habits can help diabetes and predabetic manage their blood sugar levels.

The best yoga for people with diabetes include postures and breathing exercises that are designed specifically to target and stimulate the pancreas. By improving blood flow to the pancreas, yoga helps to rejuvenate the organ cells and improves its ability to produce insulin for the body. How yoga helps to cure diabetes? Let's try to understand that.

It helps to regenerate and restore pancreatic cells by abdominal stretching. It helps in muscular relaxation, improves blood circulation in muscles and enhances muscular development. Regular yoga exercises can reduce your body weight which is very vital to keep diabetes under check. Yoga postures help to improve insulin sensitivity which results in better glucose uptake and blood sugar reduction.

It helps to stimulate the pancreas by enhancing circulation in the pancreas and empowers its capacity to produce more insulin. Many yoga asanas squeeze and compress the abdomen and helps to stimulate the pancreatic secretions which make more insulin to flow into the bladder. Now let's talk about ovaries and testes. Overs sit in the pelvis or low belly or females.

They make hormones that cause breasts, wide hips and other female features to develop. Overs also produce eggs. Recent trends suggest that more women are finding it harder to conceive due to stress as it takes a toll on physical as well as psychological health. According to statistics published by the World Health Organization, about 15% of couples worldwide seek help from fertility issues.

Of the many options available to couples, one which is fast gaining popularity is yoga. We are in mind that fertility yoga may or may not cure fertility completely but it will help reduce stress and make you fitter than before. You may also choose to combine these yoga poses with other treatment options to step up your fitness which is often recommended before starting any treatment for infertility. Polycystic ovary syndrome that is PCOS is a common hormonal disorder associated with the endocrine system of the female reproductive system.

It is the modern day women's nightmare as almost one in every 10 women deals with this hormonal condition. Women suffering from PCOS has cysts in their ovaries which may even lead to infertility issues. Besides weight gain, hair loss, irregular menstruation cycle are few other common symptoms of this disease. All those women who suffer from the problem of PCOS know how difficult it is to manage the symptoms.

Regular check-up, strict diet and irregular monthly period can at times become too overwhelming. Medicines do help to keep the symptoms in control but making some healthy lifestyles swaps are also beneficial in such conditions. Testes sit in a pouch behind the penacing males. They make hormones that cause a deep voice, facial hair and other male features to develop.

Testes also make male sex cells or sperm. A friend's although yoga probably will not significantly alter functions of the endocrine system like growth and metabolism, it may have a beneficial effect on our stress response. Moreover, yoga poses pressurizes and deep pressurizes specific glands and these subtle compressions and decompressions can regulate secretions. Thanks to yoga, you can enjoy the fruits of having your hormonal health improve alongside with your physical benefit such as sleeping better, improving your mood and your relief anxiety.

Cut cravings, fight fatigue, reduce and manage pain. It's like a pain killer. Till then take care, keep smiling. Namaste.
