Guitar and Piano work on the same principles and they are the only two common instruments that you can play chords on.
Here then is a demonstration of how the piano and guitar work together, enabling some theory to be applied to the guitar. It’s easy to start learning guitar, and half a dozen chords and a good singing voice can get you gigs quickly, but if you want to branch out and get into bands, do sessions, play in all sorts of different styles, etc., then a knowledge of theory will really help.
Don’t worry! Theory can be as simple or as complex as you like, and learning it involves a lot of ‘Eureka’ moments along the way.
