In this guitar lesson we take a close look at the modes explained in just one minute - this is the best system/exercise to understand them! When we compare the other modes in minor and major to the natural minor and major scales (Aeolian and Ionian) we see that there is just one note that changes with the exception of Locrian. By learning this distinctive scale degree in all positions you will be able to accent it to further bring out the specific sound of the mode. When you just think 'C Ionian has the same notes like F Lydian' when you improvise you won't get the most out of these awesome colors since you probably don't know why they sound so unique.
