In this week's lesson we check out some of the best power chord hacks and extensions you can use for your own music! By extending the perfect fifth and adding different suspenseful and interesting intervals instead of only octaves we get some pretty unique sounds. The main goal of this lesson is to inspire you a bit to use different sounds and colors for your songwriting. There is nothing wrong with the rightfully named power chords, they are the backbone of so many iconic songs – but there is also no real color or interesting tonality to them. They don't sound sad, happy, dissonant, exotic, oriental or anything like that. Sometimes adding these intervals really serves the mood and atmosphere of your song perfectly and I hope that these voicings will be useful for you in the future!
